COVID-19: Keep you and your loved ones safe. Visit the CDC Guidance for Older Adults, or call 1-833-MY-Senior for resources in your area.
While many community Senior Centers and Ombudsmen can provide general guidance on issues specific to veterans, the vast majority of veteran services, including mental health assistance and help with questions about pensions and disability compensation, are administered through Veteran Administration Centers throughout the US. VA Centers can help you understand and receive the benefits you’re entitled to. If your loved one is an aging veteran who is unable to adequately communicate his needs, you can obtain authorization from the VA to communicate and transact on behalf of your loved one. If you live in a densely populated state like California or Pennsylvania, you probably live within a 25 mile radius of a VA Center. In sparsely populated regions, the nearest VA Center could be hundreds of miles away. Your local Senior Center can help you use technology to communicate effectively with the VA, or help arrange transportation to your VA Center.
